Mera Maan Pvt. Ltd., a social enterprise located in Islamabad, Pakistan, was born out of personal tragedy and transformed by a powerful vision for meaningful change. Founded by Shahnaz Kapadia Rahat, Mera Maan reflects the depths of her passion and commitment to fostering a more caring, peaceful, and dignified world. The name "Mera Maan" translates to "my pride, my dignity," serving as a reminder of our core values and the dignity we seek to empower in every individual.
Our Journey:
- 1982: Shahnaz began her journey as a lecturer at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Karachi, igniting her passion for education and social impact.
- 1985: She joined the Development Support Training Project funded by USAID, developing training modules focused on enhancing government training institutions.
- 1989: Combining her interests, Shahnaz established a for-profit training and consulting company aimed at empowering lower-income women and creating sustainable solutions to combat poverty.
- 2005: A devastating personal loss during the earthquake inspired Shahnaz to establish Mera Maan as a commitment to bettering the world around her.
- 2006: Mera Maan initiated an economic empowerment project that significantly improved the livelihoods of 1,000 women across four districts and established the Mera Maan Residential Training Center (MMRTC).
- 2010-2014: Following her experience managing a $300 million grant fund, Shahnaz registered Mera Maan as a private enterprise to systematically address social issues through sustainable capacity development interventions.
- 2015: Shahnaz advanced her knowledge at the Harvard Kennedy School, refining her vision as a social entrepreneur and developing strategies for systemic change.
- 2016: Mera Maan expanded its reach by engaging in social enterprise development projects in various countries, including the USA, Kenya, Nepal, and Afghanistan.
